Going Virtual—An Afternoon with Debra Marquart at the Author Café

Sunday, October 4th, the Ames Public Library Friends Foundation will feature Debra Marquart, Iowa’s Poet Laureate at the Author Café. Normally this event takes place in the auditorium of the Ames Public Library with tea service and delectable edibles. Due to Covid, we’re taking this event virtual. And, I am honored to interview Debra for the first portion of our virtual event.

Debra Marquart, Iowa’s fourth Poet Laureate, is the author of six books including, Small Buried Things and The Horizontal World. Her work has be featured on the BBC, Morning Edition, The Writer’s Almanac, and On Point. Marquart is the recipient of numerous literary awards including an NEA Fellowship and a PEN USA Nonfiction Award and is a Distinguished Professor of English in the MFA Program in Creative Writing and Environment at Iowa State University.
